For your 12' span deck beam, you can use a 4"x12" Hem Fir (#2 grade) beam For your 10' span floor joists spaced at 12" o.c., your proposed 2x10's will work, but you could reduce your floor joist size to Hem Fir 2x8's (#2 grade) spaced at 12" o.c.
You can build a wood carport deck, but if it has potential living space attached you need a concrete or a cementiouos (sp?) fire rated membrane over a well engineered structure. You can't beat a steel frame structure for this.

Or you can use some clever engineering: cantilever the joists. Cantilevered Deck Instead of a girder at the end of the joists, you’ll need to put a beam under the joists, so they can extend past that support.
Decks. Deck Joist Cantilever Rules and Limits. 30 May 2017 The distance your joists can safely cantilever or overhang a drop beam is determined by the size of the joists, the wood type and grade you must use at least five framing nails to attach the rim joist to the ends of your joists.
What astonishes me is the lack of forethought into the amount of weight that is supported by two simple deck posts. Anyone who has lifted a single 2x12 treated-lumber floor joist knows that the cumulative weight of a deck can easily be in the thousands of pounds.
To stretch the span of wood joists, you might reduce the spacing from 16 inches on-center to 12 inches on-center, jump up to 2x12 framing, or double some members, but there’s only so much that wood allows you to do.
- For short steps (total height <12"), you can use a board on its side instead of diagonally, cutting notches parallel to the floor. - Box/Ladder: Build the staircase like a slanted ladder. Bolt or nail tread supports firmly to the sides, underneath each step.

A 2x8 up to 12 feet; 2x10 to 15 feet and 2x12 to 18 feet. The larger the deck, the larger the joists. In typical deck construction, with a ledger on one side of the ...
What you are proposing (2x12, 12"O.C., even doubled) is standard deck construction for heavier structural loads (supporting more house weight), I just can't see it being used to hold the weight of vehicles.

How to Build Deck Stairs: 5 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow Ideally, the stair tread should be built from a composite wood material designed for exterior decking for Install the stringers by attaching them at the top of the deck outside the framing using metal floor joist hangers.
I'm struggling with how to design the wood floor and what materials to use for the floor framing. Currently we are planning to run a beam down the center of the long dimension and use either 12' - 2x12 PTL, 12" o.c.. along each side of the beam, or 20' I-joists run the full width, again 12" o.c..
